About the Pascal Society

The Pascal Society is the annual giving society of the NFPA Education and Technology Foundation—a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, charitable organization dedicated to meeting the workforce development needs of the U.S. fluid power industry.

Named after Blaise Pascal, the French mathematician, physicist, and inventor whose famous law describes fluid power’s force multiplier effect, the Pascal Society seeks to create a similar multiplier effect for the fluid power industry.

By combining the financial and volunteer contributions of many individuals into one concerted effort, The Pascal Society will develop the resources, tools, and people needed to tackle our difficult workforce development challenge.

Learn how the Pascal Society benefits those who have chosen a career path in the Fluid Power Industry.

ControlAir’s Precision Pressure Regulators, Filter Regulators, Volume Boosters, Air Relays and I/P Transducers help ensure precise pressure adjustment for instrumentation and process control in the oil and gas markets. These demanding applications require accurate and repeatable pressure regulation, sometimes under extreme conditions. ControlAir’s family of Stainless Steel and NACE units provide longer life in offshore and other harsh environments.

Precision type-100 Pressure Regulator
Dependable, Highly Accurate Pressure Regulation to 0.1%. The Type 100 is a high precision, multi-stage pressure regulator. This pressure controller provides the highest level of regulation accuracy and repeatability available.

Precision type-100 Pressure Regulator

The Type 100 is ideal for applications that call for the utmost of control and maximum stability under variable operating conditions. A stainless-steel measuring capsule is used as a sensing element to activate the high gain servo balanced control mechanism in which the main valve is controlled by a pilot valve. This allows for greater accuracy and eliminates many of the problems associated with conventional regulators using range springs and diaphragms.

Type 700 High Flow Pressure Regulator
The Type 700 is designed for applications that require high flow capacity and accurate process control. A poppet valve which is balanced by utilizing a rolling diaphragm insures a constant output pressure even during wide supply pressure variations. Stability of regulated pressure is maintained under varying flow conditions through the use of an aspirator tube which adjusts the air supply in accordance with the flow velocity.

Type 1227 High Flow Gas Pressure Regulator
The Type 1227 Pressure Regulator is a pressure reducing, direct-operated regulator suitable for use with compressed air, natural gas, sour gas and an assortment of other inert gases. The Type 1227 is available with output ranges that span from 5 psi up to 150 psi and can be ordered with a variety of orifice sizes and materials providing application flexibility in the oil and gas industries.

Features
• Wide range of orifice sizes for different flow capacities
• 1″ or 2″ body size
• Trim can be replaced without disconnecting regulator from the system
• Can be re-arranged into multiple orientations for difficult installations with limited maneuverability
• Superior Sensitivity
• NACE MR0175 construction available
• Assembled and Tested in the USA

Type 330 Air Filter Regulator
The Type 330 Instrument Air Filter Regulator is designed to provide clean, accurate air pressure to instruments, valves, and other automatic control equipment in a lightweight, compact housing. This quality instrument is constructed of durable materials that will provide long lasting corrosion resistance in harsh industrial environments. The Type 330 AFR features either a 40-micron or 5-micron filter to allow for more precise filtration.

The Type 330 Filter Regulator with Automatic Drain automatically flushes out condensate waste liquid when a change in air flow occurs or when the supply pressure is reduced. The low maintenance Automatic Drain helps prolong the life of the regulator and filter by preventing corrosion on the bottom of regulator and reducing the load of the filter.

Options and features (see specification tab for full list):

¼” and ½” port sizes
40- or 5-micron filter
Auto-drain capabilities
Low temperature option: down to -62°F

Type 1230 High Pressure Gas Regulator
The Type 1230 is a pressure-reducing, direct-operated regulator suitable for use with compressed air, natural gas, sour gas or an assortment of other inert gases. The Type 1230 utilizes a similar design to the Type 1227 but provides a much broader offering of output pressure ranges and valve disk materials. The Type 1230 is available with output pressures that span from 50 psi to 500 psi making it suitable for use across a vast range of industries and applications, especially those utilizing regulators in series for controlled pressure reduction across multiple stages.

Features
• Guarded against unwanted set point adjustment with tamper-proof cap
• Trim can be replaced without disconnecting regulator from the system
• Can be re-arranged into multiple orientations for difficult installations with limited
maneuverability
• NACE MR-0175 configurations available. (Ask our sales team about CRN availability)
• Assembled and Tested in the USA

Type 6100 High Flow Capacity Volume Booster
Rapid Stroke Capability in a Rugged Aluminum Casing

The Type 6100 aluminum volume booster is a 1:1 signal to output relays that is utilized in applications that require high forward airflow and exhaust capacities. Typically, they are used to increase the throttling speed of large volume valve actuators. They are suitable for either diaphragm or piston actuators. A fixed dead band and adjustable bypass valve combine to allow small incremental downstream adjustment without opening the main booster valve. The bypass valve is used to adjust dynamic response to provide stable operation over a wide range of actuator sizes.  Negative Bias adjustment (up to -4 psi) is available to “zero” downstream pressures when using standard signal pressure ranges.

Type 6500/6600 Stainless Steel High Flow Capacity Volume Booster
Rapid Stroke Capability in a Rugged Aluminum or Stainless-Steel Casing

The Type 6500 aluminum and Type 6600 stainless steel volume boosters are 1:1 signal to output relays that are utilized in applications that require high flow capacity. Typically, they are used to increase throttling speed of large volume valve actuators. They are suitable for either diaphragm or piston actuators. Oilgear simply builds superior products that are made in America with a 95% on-time delivery rate. For over 60 years they have been building some of the most precise pumps on the market for industrial, oil & gas, and mobile (closed-loop open-loop) applications. They have expanded into our Innovative Fluid Power locations in Houston, Minneapolis, and Kansas City to serve as product distributors.  Oilgear continually offers new, innovative products; for example:

XD5 | More Power. Smaller Package.

Extremely effective across numerous industrial applications that require quick response in extreme environments, the XD5 series of pumps offer lightning-fast control response on both low-viscosity fluids and standard hydraulic oil. Engineered to handle the most challenging environments, they have been designed to be a high-performance solution for demanding mobile applications.

Other product line leaders include the PVWJ and PVG variable displacement pump lines in various sizes in standard frames. Check out their online product filter to find the pump that meets your requirements. Oilgear also has a good line of radial piston pumps – their product depth is their true versatility and have proven excellent in low viscosity applications. For example, using a proportional servo valve with the LS PVWJ series pumps, users have seen control down to 0.5-1 psi in force control applications.

TB 05 thru 12 | Hydraulically-controlled pump for extreme pumping applications.

With a unique, patented design, the Transfer Barrier™ Pumping System gives you precision control when pumping high-pressure water, chemicals or slurries. Users have applied it to fracking, LNG, waterjet cutting and press control. It can do that—and a lot more.

The Oilgear Transfer Barrier Pumping System uses the flow of oil from a hydraulic power unit (HPU) to precisely control the motion of large pumping plungers. And based on the area ratios of the plungers, the Transfer Barrier either intensifies or reduces the output pressure.

The Transfer Barrier Pumping System is a top choice in various industries for a variety of reasons. But it’s best known for its long life, precision control, flexible packaging and placement, and reduced downtime. High pressure up to 200,000 psi has been seen in static applications.
