Position Summary:

The Conveyance Technician operates hydraulic bending equipment and assembles hydraulic hoses to precise customer specifications. This position is embedded on-site at the customer’s facility in Waverly, Iowa, as part of a partnership between IFP and the customer.

The role keeps the customer’s hose and fitting stock at the right levels and provides responsive, on-the-fly hose assembly when the customer needs it. Because the position works at the customer site with limited day-to-day oversight, it calls for a self-starter who can work independently, hold quality and safety standards, and represent IFP well to the customer.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service and Inventory
• Provides excellent customer service, including on-the-fly hose assembly when the customer needs it.
• Maintains the customer’s stock levels of hose, tubing, fittings, and supplies.
• Represents IFP professionally on-site as part of the customer partnership.
• Works independently with limited direct supervision to keep the customer supported.

Hose and Tube Fabrication
• Operates hydraulic tube bending machines to bend metal tubes and pipes to required angles and dimensions.
• Sets up machines by selecting the proper tooling, dies, and fixtures.
• Cuts, measures, and assembles hydraulic hoses according to specifications.
• Installs fittings and couplings and crimps hose ends using hydraulic crimping equipment.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.

Quality and Inspection
• Inspects hose assemblies for proper installation, accuracy, and overall quality.
• Measures and inspects finished parts using calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools.

Equipment and Material Handling
• Performs routine machine maintenance and troubleshoots minor mechanical issues.
• Assists with shipping and receiving, including material handling and inventory support.

Safety and Housekeeping
• Follows all IFP safety procedures and wears appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Follows the additional safety and site requirements of the customer’s facility.
• Keeps the work area clean and organized in line with safety and housekeeping standards.

Collaboration
• Collaborates with team members and the supervisor to meet production goals and deadlines.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support the customer partnership and IFP.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Self-starter able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, hose assembly, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with measuring tools and basic math skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Professional manner suited to working on-site at a customer facility.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent use of hands for assembly, measuring, and tool operation.

Working Conditions:

• Based on-site at the customer’s facility in Waverly, Iowa, as part of an IFP / customer partnership.
• Subject to both IFP safety requirements and the additional safety and site requirements of the customer.
• Fast-paced assembly environment with exposure to shop noise, fluids, and energized equipment.
• Standard personal protective equipment is required.

Compensation:

• Starting pay approximately $25 per hour, based on experience.
