The Quality Control & Safety Manager ensures the implementation and maintenance of safety and quality control procedures and finished product inspections.

 Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work with quality ticket owners to establish proper root cause identification and be responsible for timely action on quality tickets and effectiveness. Lead a weekly peer review committee in closing tickets
  • Oversee internal audits and be responsible for following up on internal quality tickets Be part of the annual ISO9000 audits. Work with department managers to resolve any findings
  • Collect and publish safety and quality KPAs and data
  • Be the primary quality contact for our customers. Complete quality questionnaires from customers. Work with suppliers on quality issues
  • Train new employees on the safety & quality system and develop knowledge quizzes with the departments for departmental procedures and work instructions
  • In conjunction with the VP of Operations, reviews and approves departmental procedures and work instructions. Maintain all quality documents and manuals and their distribution
  • Assists with development of finished product and component receiving inspection procedures and requirements. Conducts quality control reviews at established inspection points. Oversee final testing
  • Verifies and maintains quality control records. Train and support personnel to assure effective and competent performance of quality function and all required skills
  • Work with calibration and measurement manager to verify proper record keeping
  • Participates in the review of all design, manufacturing, purchasing, and test documentation to assure conformance to quality control standards. This can include review of drawings, specification sheets, production procedures, testing and inspection standards, vendor inspections and customer contract specifications. Makes recommendations regarding facilities, equipment, procedures, and systems to carry out quality control function
  • Prepares and reviews quality trends. Reports serious or repeated failures or unreliability in quality of products. Recommends corrective actions or plans/programs for overall non-conformity reductions in products and processes
  • Maintain the safety manual and perform safety trainings using the safety manual
  • Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly safety inspections. Follow up on issues found. Have an outside company perform specialized training and annual external audits
  • Lead risk analysis of certain products utilizing cross-functional teams. Ensure required documentation
  • Performs other quality control and safety functions as necessary or as requested
  • Handle walk-through inspections with Fire Marshall and conduct periodic fire drills

Organizational Relationships:

Reports to the VP of Operations. Works closely with Production, Engineering and Customer Service. Will involve some short travel to remote offices to perform some duties.  Approximately 4-5 nights per year.


Experience with ISO9000 certification process and internal Auditor experience. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with people are essential. Safety background, machining, or job shop experience desired but not required.  Must be able to learn industry specific terms and standards including specific instrumentation.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to communicate orally with vendors, customers, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group is crucial.
  • Sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.

  • Good reasoning ability is required to solve a wide range of business problems. Able to understand and utilize Internet server and network reports to conduct business.

Work Environment:

The job is performed indoors in a traditional office, warehouse and assembly environment. Activities include extended periods of sitting and extensive use of a computer and measuring devices.
